CBD and its specific consumption

According to studies, when CBD is consumed orally (capsules) or in sublingual form (oil), the vast majority of it does not reach the bloodstream but is broken down in the liver and becomes the inactive metabolite called 7-COOH-CBD. This means, for example, that using cannabis oil containing 20% CBD will result in an actual absorption of only 2.6% CBD. Oral cannabis preparations, such as gummi or cookies, are less likely to affect overall respiratory health. The studies on this oil are continuous and all seem to point in the direction of a real elixir for health. Buy HHC Gummies Online by BudPop.

Pure CBD (“Crystal”)

This problem also exists with THC, whose oral bioavailability ranges from only 4% to 12%depending on stomach content, enzyme concentrations, and other variables. Like CBD, the THC consumed orally is mostly broken down in the liver into inactive metabolites such as THC-COOH.

The concentration of the inactivated metabolite 7-COOH-CBD in the blood of the subjects who consumed inhaled CBD was 25 times lower than its concentration in the blood of the subjects who consumed CBD by ingestion, which of course goes well with the fact that the consumption of the inhaled substance “bypasses” the liver. So that the CBD remains in its active form instead of breaking down in the liver into 7-COOH-CBD.

Going back to CBD, unlike THC, sublingual consumption did not show significantly higher bioavailability than ingestion, and it is not clear how much it improves its absorption efficiency compared to oral consumption. Its FDA approval was obtained based on studies in which it was administered orally.

A new study

A new study recently published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences has tried to test whether it is possible to consume inhaled pure CBD powder through an inhaler without heating. To allow the CBD powder to be absorbed into the lungs, the researchers mixed it with a powder of a substance called FDKP. FDK is a special substance discovered in the early 2000s that creates microparticles of other substances mixed with it.

In the current study, the researchers actually applied the same idea of the insulin inhaler to CBD, creating an inhaler that contains pure CBD powder with FDKP powder that breaks down the CBD into microparticles that can be absorbed into the lungs by inhalation. Then, they gave one group of subjects to consume 50 mg of CBD in the form of the drug orally, and the second group of subjects to consume 10 mg of powder containing 2.1 mg of CBD and 7.9 mg of inhaled FDKP.
